DELAWARE SPEEDWAY SHOWCASED AT RACING SHOWS.

January 20, 2010
Delaware Speedway's half-mile track may be covered in snow but there's really no such thing as an off-season here, as evidenced by Delaware's strong showing at last weekend's 3rd annual CPT Racing Experience at London's Western Fair Agriplex. A who's who of the local racing community signed autographs and posed for photos with fans. Special appearances by NASCAR legends Rusty Wallace and Ken Schrader were big hits with the paying public. Delaware Speedway General Manager Joe Czernai revels in the chance to show off some of the stock and junior cars and racers to the trade show crowd.

"I was very happy Delaware was able to participate in the CPT Racing Experience. It allowed us to showcase our product alongside all of the different types of racing products that are available in the South Western Ontario region. The show was very well organized and offered a variety of displays that appealed to the seasoned race fan and new race fan alike. There was something there for everyone."

The buzz in the air at the show was palpable over the upcoming Delaware Summer Showdown. Fans and local racers are anticipating the potential for NASCAR's Sprint Cup racers Kyle Busch, David Reutimann and Regan Smith to get their butts kicked on the local track by the likes of Steve Robblee and Ron Sheridan. Even though it was formally announced less than a week ago, the July 7th event is already a huge hit with race fans. Czernai says tickets are moving at a brisk pace.

"It was on the lips of everyone (at the CPT Racing Experience). People were excited and eager to purchase their tickets and discuss their love or hate relationships with the Cup drivers that will be participating. We are very pleased with the sales so far and expect to sell out in the near future."

Final preparations are underway for Delaware Speedway's appearance this weekend's Canadian Motorsports Expo at Toronto's International Centre. For Joe Czernai, it's another opportunity to showcase the great racing at Delaware and a prime opportunity for local racers to do some networking and shopping for ideas and gear. "It will increase awareness about our facility and the exciting racing that goes on there every week. I am not sure that people in the Toronto area are aware of what a fantastic facility and exciting racing product we feature."

Creating awareness and building on Delaware's already enthusiastic fan base is what it's all about, at least, until the snow on the track finally melts for good.
