Round #6 of the Lucas Oil Sportsman Cup is less than a week away, and will take place under the lights September 5th at Delaware Speedway. This show promises to be a great one, with a full field of cars planned to take to the track for a Saturday night Shootout in Twin 50 lap events known as The McColl 100.

Joining Canada's fastest growing Stock Car Series, the National Stock Car Association, will be long time veteran driver Ron Sheridan of Mount Bridges Ontario. Sheridan, who has captured more than his fare share of win's at Delaware Speedway will be driving for the first time for Mid America Motorsports in the #42 Chevrolet Monte Carlo.

Sheridan is also atop contender for the Delaware Speedway championship, which he will battle for on Sunday at the Total APC 300.  Sheridan is also the defending winner of the the Total APC 300.   Dorchester's Steve Robblee (#28) is Sheridan's chief rival for the championship, sitting just three points back from the lead.

Sheridan will team up with last year’s Rookie Of The Year winner Brennan Didero, driver of the #24 Lucas Oil / Benson Auto Parts Chevrolet, who currently sits 5th in the point standings, and only 4 points out of 3rd in a very close title battle which has produced some great racing this year.

Mid America Motorsports will enter the #42 for the first time this season with the intent of show casing the car For Sale, and needed a Driver that could show the cars capabilities without tearing it up. Ron Sheridan fit the program with aces.

"Ron has always been the type of driver to race smart- take his time- and run up front without tearing the heck out of a car. We built this car with the very best in equipment, and required one of the very best to pilot the #42 so racers could see the cars potential.  Sheridan was a natural fit" said Team Manager David Didero.

This will mark the first time that racing legend Ron Sheridan will climb into a Lucas Oil Sportsman Cup car and the Mid America Motorsports Team looks forward to giving him a good ride. At this point the Teams plans are to showcase the car in Practice, Qualify, and run a smart Race giving everyone an opportunity to see the #42 on track.

The Team is still looking for sponsorship for the car, and if all goes well can show up on track with a new sponsor to fill the quarter panels. Either way, Ron Sheridan will be a welcomed racer to the Series, the Fans and the other Drivers racing for the Lucas Oil Sportsman Cup Championship which will go down to the wire on September 12th at Flamboro Speedway for the final race of the season.

Didero closed by saying, " It’s a real pat on the back when you can have someone like Sheridan step up to the plate and jump in on such short notice. Putting both cars in contention to win is the only thing on our minds right now and hopefully sell this car to someone that is looking for top shelf equipment to run with next season. Ron understands that our main goal is Brennan in the #24 as he looks to climb up in the point’s battle and the chase for the Championship."
