Canadian Motorsports Legend Earl Ross at Delaware Tonight August 21, 2009 John Houghton Delaware Speedway PR
Recently, Earl has been working closely with the Parkinson Society raising money for their research and awareness projects. This evening, with the support of Earl Ross and his daughter Lisa, the Parkinson Society will be running the 50/50 draw on the spectator hill. Parkinson Society Canada is a national, not-for-profit, volunteer based charity with more than 100 chapters and many support groups throughout Canada. Tonight’s NASCAR Whelen All-American Series program presented by CPT Entertainment & BX93 features the APC Late Models in twin 25’s, the POWERADE Modifieds and Demar Aggregates Trucks. The Transmission Direct Enduro drivers will be on hand running a 35-lap challenge race. Gates open at 6:00 pm, practice runs from 6:00-7:00 pm, time trials are at 7:30 pm and racing begins at 8:00 pm.

Canadian Motorsports Hall of Fame driver Earl Ross will be at Delaware Speedway this evening (Friday, August 21, 2009). Earl Ross is known to Canadian motorsport fans as the only Canadian driver to ever win a race in what is now the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series. He further holds the distinction of the only non-American driver to win an event until Juan Pablo Montoya in 2007. Ross’s win came at Martinsville Speedway in 1974, the same year he also secured Rookie of the Year honors in the series. He also competed at Delaware Speedway and in the CASCAR Super Series. In 1982 he won the first McKerlie Millen 200 at Delaware Speedway, the precursor to today’s Total APC 300. Ross was inducted into the Canadian Motorsports Hall of Fame in 2000.
Tonight, Earl Ross will be up on the spectator hill meeting with fans, signing autographs and displaying memorabilia including trophies. He will be addressing the driver’s meeting prior to tonight’s event.
