The two-day Tammy $10,000 weekend kicks off at Delaware Speedway Friday evening and continues through Saturday. As well as the ISMA Series, the weekend will feature all of Delaware Speedway’s NASCAR Whelen All-American Series classes and a King of the Hill Spectator’s race on Friday. Friday evening’s events are presented by Sloan Insulations and Saturday’s racing by Patco Transportation. Corr / Pak Merchandising has provided special additional prizing for the ISMA drivers to compete for throughout the weekend.

The cars in the American-based ISMA (International Super Modified Association) are the most powerful cars to visit Delaware Speedway each year. The majority of the vehicles are home built by the race teams themselves. The light weight of the cars combined with the over 850 horse power the cars generate create a recipe for quick times around the speedways the series visits. The cars also have large wings mounted on top of the car mounted on air shocks which change the aerodynamic characteristics of the vehicle to create extra down force in the turns and reduce drag on the straights. The cars are also directly driven off the engine which means the cars require a push start and have no starter and no battery to further reduce the weight of the cars.

Legendary Super Modified driver Harvey Lennox will be on hand for the Tammy $10,000 weekend. Lennox made the name Tammy 10 famous throughout the region while racing the cars in the 1950’s-70’s. Delaware Speedway is pleased to welcome him as an honorary grand marshal, who will also meeting with fans and signing autographs.

A number of local drivers are confirmed to be taking part in the ISMA races. Among the locals scheduled to drive are Glencoe’s David McCullough, a Delaware Speedway regular in the #39 POWERADE Open-Wheel Modified. Mark Sammut (#78) of London will also be competing. The last time the series raced in Canada was at Cayuga Speedway earlier this summer where Sammut took his first-ever ISMA Career win.

In a last minute announcement, Ryan Litt will be behind the wheel at Delaware Speedway once again. Litt is very excited to be behind the wheel of the brand new “Lair Jet” on Saturday night at Delaware. Ryan drove the previous Dave Lair owned-machine to a career best Supermodified division finish of second at Delaware in 2007, and a new chassis should help the chances of another good finish.

“Dave has really poured his heart and soul into this new car,” says Ryan, “Hopefully there aren't too many bugs to work out and we can give him a good finish. He has really worked hard to give me a competitive car, and I can't thank him enough for the opportunity. It’s a pretty sweet ride!”

Delaware is located just outside of the team’s home base of London, Ontario, and is a favorite venue for Ryan and the team as they get to race in front of hometown fans.

“I hope to see a lot of fans out at Delaware to support the group,” says Ryan. “It will be an awesome show, and with that new pavement down, there should be some quick laps. I’m interested to see what kind of times we will be running - I think there will be a few guys under my (sprint car) track record, and hopefully I am one of them.”

Litt is currently Delaware Speedway’s all-time track record holder at 15.862 seconds in his Auto-Value Super Sprint. The record will likely stand, at least officially for this weekend, as there are no time trials currently scheduled for the ISMA Super Modifieds. In order to officially claim the all-time track record, the lap must be completed under single-car time trial conditions during a sanctioned event. Fans, however, will be watching the DelaNET scoring system to see if any ISMA drivers can lay bragging rights to an unofficial record.

As another bonus, camping at Delaware Speedway is free with admission all weekend long. Space is available on a first come first served basis behind the back straightaway. Already many die-hard ISMA fans have already begun making their way into the campground.

Spectator gates open on early on Friday at 5:00 pm so fans can be present for the ISMA practice sessions which begin at 5:30. Racing will begin at 8:00 pm. On Saturday, the times are much the same with spectator gates opening at 5:00 pm and racing scheduled for 8:00 pm. Weekend passes continue to be available through the speedway website, www.delawarespeedway.com as well as at the speedway box office on event day.
