EXCITING PARTSOURCE 142 FORMAT UPDATE

June 22, 2009

John Houghton

Delaware Speedway PR

In light of recent rainouts, Delaware Speedway officials working with NASCAR have been able update the points structure of Friday’s PartSource 142 presented by BX93.

NASCAR has authorized Delaware Speedway to run a total of three segments for NASCAR Whelen All-American Series points, one of which is a makeup from June 19th, the other two are the already scheduled doubles.  The first segment will be 50 laps, followed by another 50-lap segment.  The 5 minute break will now be at lap 100, where cars will be able to come in, add fuel, change up to two tires and make minor adjustments without losing track position.  Following this, the final 42 laps will be run.  It is the intent of the race director to count cautions in the first 100 laps, and depending on time do our best to run the final 42 as green flag laps.

The event is still a single 142 lap race with the payout to be completed based on finishing positions on lap 142.

Questions please call Race Director Jeff Wilcox (519) 652-5068 Ext 203.

Tickets for the event are available through Delaware Speedway.com.  Fans who buy their tickets before Wednesday at midnight will save off the gate price.

Fans and drivers are invited to PartSource’s annual pre-race barbecue which will be held from 4 pm to 8 pm on Wednesday, June 24 at the PartSource store on Wharncliffe Road in London. Various NASCAR Whelen All-American Series drivers will be on hand with their vehicles on display, including 2007 track champion, Jesse Kennedy. Proceeds of the barbecue will go to “Canadian Tire Jumpstart,” a community-based charitable program that helps kids in financial need participate in organized sport and recreation.

Fans may also visit the PartSource on Wharncliffe Road in London and enter into a draw to win a package of four VIP tickets to the race, including the chance to serve as Grand Marshall and wave the green flag for the PartSource 142 presented by BX 93. Two secondary prize winners will also be drawn and will receive general admission tickets to the event. While at the race, all three prize winners will have the chance to choose a driver that they think will win the race. If their driver wins, they’ll receive a $100 gift certificate from PartSource, a PartSource hat autographed by their driver and a pair of tickets to see the season championship, the Great Canadian 300 on Labour Day weekend. Each will also receive a pit tour guided by track announcer, Jared Doxtator.
