$1,000 TO WIN THRONE KINGS OF THE HILL UP NEXT!
July 5, 2009 John Houghton
Friday evening presented by Glen Fenwick Subaru & SPDA.ca at Delaware Speedway is set to be another great evening of fun including a $1000 to win Throne King’s of the Hill race!
The NASCAR Whelen All-American Series divisions will be taking to the track once again in their chase for the championship. The APC Late Models will be featured in a JBM Autoleasing Triple Crown Race, with POWERADE Modifieds and Demar Aggregates Trucks running support. However after all that action is over with, fans will be treated to a pair of special events.
The Throne Kings of the Hill Spectator’s race is one of the most popular events at the speedway. The event allows spectators to compete with each other in one-on-one fun drag race type events around the half mile. Each round the first place car advances while the second place car heads home. The event is a charity based event, collecting a $5 donation from competitors towards Jesse’s Journey, a local charity that raises money through an endowment to fight Duchene Muscular Dystrophy.
The event seems to become even more popular when there is prize money on the line. This Friday, Custom Auto-Care has put up $500 to win in the Throne King’s of the Hill Spectator’s race. Delaware Speedway is matching that amount with an additional $500 making it a $1,000 to win night!
“We’d like to recognize Glen Fenwick Subaru, SPDA.ca and Custom Auto-Care for stepping up for this event,” said Operations Manager Paul Houghton. “With their help, this is sure to be an excellent evening of fun at Delaware Speedway.”
Prior to the Throne King’s of the Hill Spectator’s race is the Throne King’s Powder Puff Madness event. Over the past few weeks Kevin Overholt has been selling tickets to enter into a draw to win a ride in a borrowed car for the race. The event, separate from the King of the Hill racing on the evening, is a two-lap sprint around the speedway from a standing start on the front stretch. Along with bragging rights, the winner of the sprint will receive 50% of the funds generated through the entry draw process, with the other 50% going to charity. The event is presented by Ofner’s Auto Sales, Cathcart Auto Parts, A Daizy Limousine Services and Whitworth Towing.
