THRONE KINGS POWDER PUFF MADNESS! Delaware Speedway PR
Throne Kings is not a new name around Delaware Speedway. Racers and fans are familiar with the company as the sponsor of the immensely popular Throne Kings of the Hill spectator races. Today, Throne Kings and Delaware Speedway are announcing an exciting new program, Throne Kings Powder Puff Madness. “The new Powder Puff Madness program is another way to raise money for local charity, and get more women directly involved with racing,” said Overholt. “Who knows, maybe some will enjoy it and join up with one of the full racing classes.” The event is scheduled to be held on July 10, 2009. In the weeks leading up to the event Throne Kings will be running a ladies only draw on the spectator hill. A $5 ticket enters the participant into a draw to win the opportunity to receive a starting position in the event with a supplied car. Six positions in the cars will be raffled off leading up to the event. The event itself is a two-lap sprint around the speedway from a standing start on the front stretch. Along with bragging rights, the winner of the sprint will receive 50% of the funds generated through the entry draw process, with the other 50% going to charity. The event is presented by Ofner’s Auto Sales, Cathcart Auto Parts, A Daizy Limousine Services and Whitworth Towing. “I want to thank these companies for coming to the plate for this event,” said Overholt. “Without them we wouldn’t have been able to get the vehicles and other tools needed to put this together.” Throne King’s is also opening the door for individuals to participate even if they aren’t the lucky winner in the draw.
“For $20 a person can enter a mid-size car or minivan into the event,” explained Overholt. “Moreover, if someone has a vehicle they would like to donate into the program they’re welcome to give us a call and we can put it to use.” Kevin Overholt has been racing at Delaware Speedway since the 1980’s. Last season he gained acclaim for his stunt driving when he piloted a car over a set of ramps and through an RV, a feat he plans to repeat and expand on later this season.
