TRANSMISSION DIRECT NEXT GENERATION ENDURO

PROGRAM PRIZING STRUCTURE & FORMATS ANNOUNCED

March 25, 2009

The largest racing class at Delaware Speedway, the Transmission Direct Enduro has a fresh take on format and prizing for the 2009 racing season!  Earlier this year, a new rules package released for the 2009 season opened the class to a wider variety of vehicles.  Along with those new rules an update was promised to the racing format, aimed at bringing the Transmission Direct Enduro into the modern era.

The new race format for the events has been created to increase the quality of competition for both drivers and fans.  A Transmission Direct Enduro event will now open with a pair or 30-lap heat races, after which the Ultimate Sandblasting & Coating Chaos Cars will take to the track.  Next the racing moves on to a 150-lap main event for the Transmission Direct Enduro drivers.  Of the six events scheduled, two events (June 20 & September 26) run special extended and a 200-lap feature and September 26 runs extended 50-lap heats.

Heat race fields will be split evenly based on the number of participants and set by a handicapping system based on points accumulated in the previous event, with the fastest drivers in one heat and the remaining drivers in the other.  The finish from the heat race will be inverted and the field seeded with the fast heat starting from the rear.  As well as prize money, heat races will also reward drivers with vital championship points.

“The new format will bring a lot of excitement to the Transmission Direct Enduro program this season,” said announcer John Houghton.  “With all the action, excitement and great racing that takes place in the program, now more then ever these events are not to be missed!”

The prize structure of the Transmission Direct Enduro has received an update to reflect the new programs.  Incentive bonuses have been put in place to reward rookie drivers on the occasion of their first race, as well as bonuses to drivers who are able to win a heat and the feature in the same event.  The first driver who is able to do so will receive a special larger bonus.  A bonus also exists for drivers piloting a non-GM, station wagon, or truck in the division.

A substantial bonus structure has also been put in place to reward enterprising drivers who test their skills under the newly introduced six cylinder or less rules package.  On top of the regular purse, the top-20 drivers piloting these vehicles will receive their bonus.

A Championship Points Fund will also be in play for the racing season.  Set at a base of $2,000, the fund money will be paid starting with the top-10 V8 drivers in yearend points and a separate $500 for drivers racing a six cylinder or less.

Further, the Transmission Direct Enduro program is seeing the introduction of Challenge races throughout the racing season.  The events will see a variety of different drivers competing on the Friday night stage.  All drivers will have the opportunity to participate in at least one of the challenge races, which will feature the top, middle, and bottom thirty drivers in separate events based on points.

Admission for drivers has also seen an adjustment. Drivers now register their car and their number for the year (early bird registration has been extended to the first practice day), and at the gate registration for a car in 2009 is now $20 (down from $35 in 2008), and is reduced a further $10 if the driver holds a NASCAR Crew Membership.  The registration program is expected to improve the accuracy of results as well as the raceday experience for all drivers who will now be entered onto the roster page for the year and not be filling out forms at each event.

The first Transmission Direct Enduro event of the year takes place on Opening Day, Saturday, April 25.  Also competing on the day will be the Ultimate Sandblasting and Coating Chaos Cars beginning their second season of competition.  Spectator gates open at 1:00 PM, racing starts at 2:00 PM.
