Sportsman Cars Return to Delaware

Delaware Speedway PR

July 9, 2008

The Ontario Sportsman Series (OSS) has a date at Delaware Speedway.  The former cars of the Cascar Sportsman series will return to Delaware Speedway as part of Day 2 on the Great Canadian Race Weekend.  The Ontario Sportsman Series is scheduled to run twin 50 lap events as part of the Saturday afternoon program.

The OSS replaces the originally scheduled Cup Lites, which because of situations within that sanctioning body have informed Delaware Speedway that they are unable to participate on their scheduled date.

“With the Cup Lites out we needed an event to fill in the open slot in the weekend,” said operations manager Jerry Wilcox.  “The OSS came to us with a good package that made sense for the speedway.”

The Ontario Sportsman Series (OSS) formed from the remnants of the Cascar Sportsman Series for the 2007 season.  The OSS operates at a number of tracks throughout the Southern Ontario region including Moport Speedway, Sauble Speedway, Barrie Speedway and Peterborough Speedway.

The event will mark the first time Sportsman or Cascar-type cars have competed in a full race at Delaware Speedway since the 2005 season.

More information on a presenting sponsor of the event will be announced at a later date.

The Great Canadian Race Weekend is the biggest weekend of the year at Delaware Speedway.  The weekend runs August 29 through August 31 and includes all Delaware Speedway divisions in active competition.  Weekend pass information will be announced shortly for this amazing weekend of racing!
