What do you get when you combine a demolition derby, an RV named “Empress”, and a ramp? The Throne Kings Make-A-Wish Wreckreation Spectacular!

Delaware Speedway is pleased to work in conjunction with Throne Kings to put on what may be the wildest event to be scheduled at the speedway in decades. The event will take place following the Transmission Direct Enduro Nationals on September 27, 2008.

“The event is about raising money for make a wish, and thanking the fans for coming out throughout the year and supporting the Throne Kings of the Hill spectators race,” said Kevin Overholt, architect of the Wreckreation Spectacular. “We’ve raised a lot of money for the foundation in years past and this year I wanted to come up with a wild way of thanking the fans for helping us out.”

As well as the other events scheduled, Overholt will have a special duty at the end of the day. He will be the driver who will launch a car through the RV “Empress”.

“I don’t know what’s going to happen, but I’m sure it’ll be awesome,” said Overholt. “I hope everyone comes out to see this and tells all their friends. It’s going to be wild.”

Preliminary Format (Subject to Change)

Date: September 27, 2008 (Transmission Direct Enduro Nationals)

The Wreckreation Spectacular is a three stage event, to cap off the 2008 racing season at Delaware Speedway. The event is divided into three different section, each offering its own unique form of entertainment.

a) Target Tantrum (10-Laps)

The RV "Empress" will circle the track at a pre-determined speed with derby cars and drivers will fighting for position to get in line with the target on the left side of the "Empress". Drivers will attempt to score points by hitting targets with paintballs on the side of the RV "Empress" down the backstretch - - making positioning coming into the turn critical. The driver with the most paintballs on target wins.

b) Figure 8 and No Survivors Showdown

Remaining derby cars will compete first in figure 8 style derby on the front stretch of 10 laps. Remaining cars will qualify to compete in the final demolition derby “NO SURVIVORS SHOWDOWN”.

c) “End of the Empress” (Destroying the RV)

A ramp will be constructed. Kevin “Launch” Overholt will pilot a vehicle, through the RV - - thus ending 2008 season in style!

These events will take place following the conclusion of the Transmission Direct Enduro 300.
