A Great Line-Up For Friday!

July 4, 2008

The Peterbilt of Ontario Super Stock Showdown is set to take to the track tonight with more excitement, a new format and more on the line then ever before.

This year the three-stage event will see points awarded in every segment.  The first stage will be worth heat race points.  The second stage will award full feature race points, and the third stage and final showdown will award drivers with full feature race points as well as a boosted payout.

The event is also the only event of the year for the Peterbilt of Ontario Super Stocks that features time trials.  Ray Morneau (#98) of Windsor is the current track record holder in the Peterbilt of Ontario Super Stocks with his lap time of 21.294 seconds, set at the Showdown last year on July 6.  The previous track record holder was Jamie Ramsay (#42) of St. Thomas with a 21.430 second lap time.  Will a new track record be set at this year’s showdown?

Morneau currently leads the points standings in the Peterbilt of Ontario Super Stocks, 33 points ahead of the next challenger Darrell Lake (#77) of London.

Also competing will be the POWERADE Open-Wheel Modifieds & Challenger Motorfreight Trucks.  Defending Champion Mark Watson (#20) of St. Thomas won the previous event in the POWERADE MODIFIEDS.  The most recent Challenger Motorfreight Truck race was won by first-time winner Devon Bloemendal (#01) of Delaware.

As an added bonus on the evening fans will also be treated to the Friday evening debut of the Ultimate Sandblasting & Coating Chaos Cars.  The class has competed three times at Transmission Direct Enduro events and each time the drivers have thrilled the fans with their wild style of racing.

“Red Baron” has won two events already this year and “Snot Rod” was the winner of the most recent event.  The “Kazakhstan Krunch”, an early favorite in the exhibition stages, will be returning to battle with a repaired transmission, and the “One-Eyed Purple Car Eater” will also be returning to the fight.  With a number of other competitors preparing for the race the event is expected to be the largest Chaos event to date.  The Ultimate Sandblasting & Coating Chaos Cars will run at the conclusion of Friday’s program.

Bring a friend and invite the neighbors to the races this Friday night, there’s always great racing action at Delaware Speedway!
