PARTSOURCE 141 PRE-RACE PARTY & FORMAT

June 20, 2008

John Houghton

The annual race that celebrates Canada’s Birthday, the PartSource 141 presented by BX93, is getting set to take to the track!  The event promises to be an exciting one with drivers from across the province gearing up to participate and a great pre-race party planned for Tuesday, June 24!

The event has seen two different winners since its inception as the PartSource 139.  DJ Kennington won the inaugural running and Jesse Kennedy won last year’s PartSource 140.  Kennedy later went on to win the APC 300 and the prestigious Delaware Speedway track championship.

In preparation for the event and to celebrate Canada’s 141st Birthday, the Partsouce 141 Race Week will kick off with a Charity BBQ, and Race Car Show on Tuesday, June 24!

Fans will be able to see the Stars and Cars of the Partsource 141, including Defending Champions Jesse Kennedy,  2006 Partsource 139 Winner, DJ Kennington's 17 Nascar Canadian Tire Series Car.

The BBQ and show will start at 4:00 PM at Partsource London South,618 Wharncliffe Rd South London.

Plus, listen to MY FM all week, to win the chance to become the Partsource VIP at the Partsource 141!  You could win $500 and the VIP will also give the command to start your engines at the Partsource 141.

The event itself also features the “Grandest Grandstand Wave” in Canada.  Fans are encouraged to wear red and white colours to celebrate Canada Day, and also to bring signs and noise makers to give the drivers the biggest send off around!

The event takes place on Friday, June 27.  Gates open at 6:00 PM, time trials at 7:30 PM and racing starts at 8:00 PM.  The event also features the POWERADE Open-Wheel Modifieds and Peterbilt of Ontario Super Stocks.

PartSource 141 Format Information:

The PartSource 141 will be a single 141-lap race with a competition yellow (caution flag) between lap 65 and lap 75.

The race will count for full Delaware Speedway points.

A full field will be considered to be 28 cars. More cars may be added if necessary at the discretion of Delaware Speedway officials. A consolation race may be added depending on total car count.

Qualifying:

- Competitors will draw for time trial positions going through tech

- Two-lap time trial (one lap if they don’t make their spot). Note: Points awarded for time trials as per Delaware Speedway Rule Book

- Depending on car count, an 8-lap consolation race may be necessary

Feature Event:

- Starting lineup to be determined based on time trials and a two-dice inversion (i.e., invert 2 to 12 positions).

- Competition yellow (caution flag) will consistent of a 5-minute break. All cars must return to pit lane. All cars must be ready to roll within 5 minutes or they will forfeit track position and must restart at the rear of the field. No exceptions. (Official break is up at last sound of horn).

- Minor adjustments may be made and fluids can be added during the competition yellow/ caution period.

- If a car enters the infield and work is performed during the competition yellow/ caution period the driver will forfeit track position and restart at the rear of the field.

- A maximum of two tires may be changed – from the car/team’s own inventory -- during the competition yellow/caution period. Any team that changes more than two tires during that period will forfeit track position and restart at the rear of the field.

- Caution laps count. Last five laps will be run under green (not necessarily consecutively). For extended caution periods, the lap-counter may be “frozen” after five caution laps or the race may be red-flagged

- Although cautions count, if a competitor pits under caution, they will not go a lap down as long as they return to the speedway before green flag restart.
- Three tires may purchased (Hoosier 980’s) for this event either the day of the event or beforehand. All tires must be registered.
- For cars that have not competed at Delaware Speedway yet this year, six tires may be purchased (Hoosier 980’s) for your first visit to the speedway.
- Flamboro Speedway Late Models may run hometrack rules (ie. Weights & Tires).  Only scuff tires may be used, no sticker tires to be brought to the speedway.  The competitor may bring two scuff tires for spares.  This is to allow Flamboro competitors the chance to compete without having to change their car over.
- Only cars on Hoosiers will be allowed to start in the top-10.
