Delaware Speedway Announces 2008 Tentative Event Schedule

Delaware Speedway is pleased to announce its 2008 tentative event schedule.  It is no surprise that competing once again in 2008 will be Delaware Speedway’s famous home divisions of Delaware Late Models, POWERADE Open Wheel Modifieds, Peterbilt of Ontario Super Stocks, Challenger Motor Freight Trucks and Transmission Direct Enduros.  What may be a welcome surprise is some of the additions to the lineup for the coming season!

“We’re very happy with this year’s schedule,” said Race Director Jeff Wilcox.  “A lot of planning has gone into the preparing for this year and there are many new exciting events.”

Along with the weekly divisions, a new supporting class has been added as a low-cost entry opportunity.  The Ultimate Sandblasting and Coating “Chaos Cars” will be taking to the track on a number of occasions in 2008 with their special brand of novelty race formats.  They will compete before Transmission Direct Enduro races and stage exhibition races at some Friday events.  The Ultimate Sandblasting and Coating “Chaos Cars” will also be joined by Four Cylinder Invitationals at several Transmission Direct Enduro Events throughout the year.  For the Transmission Direct Enduro itself, events will also be run “Rain or Shine” in 2008, except in cases of extreme weather.  The Delaware Speedway Transmission Direct Enduro remains the top V-8 Enduro in Canada, and one of the strongest regularly competing Enduros in North America and a popular fan favorite at the speedway.

All touring series that visited Delaware Speedway last year will be returning in 2008 along with a few additions.  The top fan-requested touring series in recent years, The OSCAAR Outlaws (Ontario Stock Car Association of Asphalt Racers), will be making their long awaited debut at Delaware Speedway to run the historic Don Biederman Memorial race on September 6.  Paired up with the event is the first ever “Super Stock / Thunder Car Invitational” event that will invite drivers from other tracks to join in the competition.

Another fan favorite, the Lucas Oil Canadian Vintage Modifieds, will be returning from a one year break from Delaware to race on July 25.  The event takes on an added excitement as both the Delaware Late Models and POWERADE Open-Wheel Modified will celebrate this return by racing 50-lap events that night.

Other highlights include “Features Only Night”, “All-Truck Night”, the Canada Day Late Model 141 as well as “The Great Canadian Race Weekend”.

These are just a few of the exciting items among many to notice on the 2008 schedule.  Fans can judge for themselves by viewing the schedule here.

Season passes to attend all events are also available.

“A season pass would save an adult, senior or student spectator 40% off regular admission over the course of a season,” said Announcer / Public Relations Manager John Houghton.  “With our exciting schedule in place, it’s a great package that we’ve put together for the fans and we hope many of them will come and enjoy the full season with us.”

Season pass order forms are available online here.

The first chance for fans to see the cars on the track is the opening practice day on April 12th.  The racing season will open with a Transmission Direct Enduro on April 26 and weekly racing will begin on May 2.  All dates are subject to change.
